HOUSING DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTION (HDI)
Housing Development Institute (HDI) has been established with the aime to cater to the needs of the Housing Sector, especially in the Low Cost Housing and “To be a Center of excellence for adaptive research in areas of Cost and Time effective methods of construction in Housing Sector”. It is parented by Andhra Pradesh Housing Board & Housing Corporation Ltd and City & Industrial Development Corporation of Maharastra Ltd. .
Housing Development Institute (HDI) provides training in the categories of General work supervisors, Land Surveyors, Store Keepers and Total Station Surveying for construction industry. It also conducts training through short term courses (part-time) in Masonry, Plumbing & Sanitation, Barbending, Electrical & Housing Wiring, Painting & Decoration (who got minimum of 2years experience in the concern trade).
(a) The NAC was established in September, 1998 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the holistic development of construction industry of India. It is managed by a Governing Board with Hon. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh as the Chairman. NAC has seven (7) constituent units, out of which HOUSING DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE (HDI) is one of them which is parented by A.P. State Housing Corporation Ltd. (APSHCL) & A.P.
(b). Housing Board. HDI conducted its first training programme on 13th and 14th August 2001 for Tile Laying and is actively involved in imparting high class training in construction engineering trades like General Works Supervisors, Land Surveyors, Store Keepers and Total Station relevant to the construction industry.
(c). This Institute (HDI) has been primarily created, designed and established in August 2001 to train and act as a feeder Institute for various categories of tradesmen at par with International Standards who can be usefully employed by various construction companies, agencies and contractors in India.
(d). As per the statistical studies of the construction industry, there will be ample opportunities for the trainees. Needless to say, the quality of the training, which is to be provided to the candidates, should be of the highest order, so as to furnish them appropriate position in the construction field. A certain percentage of tradesmen employed by the construction companies / contractors are required to have undergone a proper training and certification procedure, as conducted by an authorized body like NAC and sponsoring training trades.
(e). For development of all types of construction resources, technologies and methodologies for completion of fast track projects, NAC has provided all facilities needed for training such as class rooms practical training areas, work shops sheds, training aids, tools and stores to the trainees. The uniforms are supplied free of cost. Boarding and Lodging is provided to the trainees at a very reasonable cost, which is included in the fees structure well laid out Dormitory facilities are provided to trainees in NAC campus.
